M. Melissa Childers’ glass paintings are
original and unique pieces of art

When pieces of glass or ground-up glass are placed on top of a sheet of glass and “fused” (melted together) in a glass kiln, they create a new glass “painting”—or artwork entirely composed of pieces of glass. I come to fused glass as an oil painter, with the objective of “painting with light” to capture the vibrancy of light I desire in my glass artwork.

Glass art portfolio reflects the
artist’s life experiences

My work as a glass artist reflects the translation of a lifetime of experiences into creations that attempt to emulate the sheer joy of being, as well as the pleasures I find in nature, travel, exploration, learning and love. The metaphor of the brilliance of glass as representative of the brilliance of life inspires me to work hard to make my glass art come alive and to show it to its very best advantage, such as in my fused glass seascapes and landscapes. Explore the glass wall art, abstract glass art, functional glass art, and dichroic glass jewelry pieces in my portfolio.

Photography portfolio showcases
another inspirational interest

Being outdoors is an essential part of my being and food for my soul. I love
to absorb and experience nature, whether while being very physically active
or just musing on and photographing the change of light, contrast and color
through the course of the day. The photographs I take while traveling are
often the inspiration for the work I create in my glass art studio.
